My Weekly Smuthe

With my job i’m lucky enough to get to try loads of different makeup brands and beauty products. I’m always excited when a new product lands on my doorstep, especially when it’s a brand that i’ve never tried before!

So when a lovely little bundle of Smüthe coffee scrubs found their way into my home I was intrigued. There seems to be a lot of coffee scrubs on the market lately, so I was interested to try Smüthe for myself, and to see what – if anything, set them apart from their competitors.

First of all, Smüthe is cruelty free and proudly Australian, being both Australian made AND Australian owned. This gets a big thumbs up from me! Their scrubs are made in Sydney and exported internationally to the rest of the world.

There are four flavours in the collection: smutheHaving now tried all four, i’ve got to say my favourite flavour is the Coconut Coffee Smüthe scrub!  It makes me feel like i’m on the beach in summer sipping on a refreshing coconut water… the smell is a delicate mix of coconut (obviously) and coffee, which doesn’t sound like much but it actually smells scrumptious!

If you’re someone like me who really cares about the ingredients in beauty products, and want to know what it is that you’re putting on your skin, then you’ll be very pleased to know that these beautiful coffee scrubs use only the highest quality, natural ingredients. They feature ingredients such as: Pink Himalayan Rock Salt, Brown Sugar Cane, Certified Organic Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E. There are zero nasty chemicals in the Smüthe scrubs, only skin loving natural ingredients.img_1471-copy-2

You can use the Smüthe coffee scrubs on both your body AND your face. When massaging the scrub onto your face you may want to be quite gentle, as this is a rather coarse feeling scrub. I would recommend to use it on your face once per week. On your body however – you can go to town!

Now onto the real interesting stuff, what sets Smüthe apart from other coffee scrubs out there? Unlike other coffee scrubs which are suspended in water, Smüthe’s coffee granules are suspended in oil. Why is this important you might ask? Well coffee contains anti oxidants which are incredibly good for your skin. These anti oxidants are released when the coffee comes into contact with water. So the coffee scrubs that keep their coffee granules in water lose a lot of the coffee’s powder as the anti-oxidants are released in the bag. Because Smüthe’s coffee is suspended in oil instead of water, the anti oxidants are only released when mixed with water on your skin!So not only do you get a delicious smelling scrub that helps reduce cellulite, remove dead skin cells and brighten your skin – but you get all the benefits of the coffee, such as reducing puffiness, toning down inflammation and giving your circulation a little boost! Sounds brilliant to me! Aside from all that good stuff, the oil that the coffee is suspended in also acts as a nourishing moisturiser for your skin, meaning that you don’t need to moisturise after you exfoliate! As oil is not water soluble, once you’ve washed away the coffee scrub from your skin, you’re left with beautiful soft AND moistened skin! It’s a 2 in 1 of greatness if you ask me, as I can never be bothered to separately moisturise my skin after the shower (or remove my old, chipped nail polish apparently!) naughty I know!

The Smüthe scrubs come in two sizes:
A large 200g pack ($18.90 AUD)
And a smaller 40g ($19.95 for a 4 pack) so that you can take them travelling! ddgg
